Stoll

Stoll is a brand founded by Gaia Stoll in Milan in 2024. Its story does not originate from a strategy, but from a moment of rupture. A period of profound darkness, during which Gaia found in fashion a way to give shape to emotions, without turning them into victimhood. Stoll is the result of this journey: not an escape from darkness, but a light found within it.
How did your passion for fashion begin?
I have always been passionate about the world of fashion. I decided to pursue it professionally after a dark period in my life. I went through many experiences at a very young age, and at the peak of pain I found my own way to express emotions. With Stoll, however, I am careful not to convey a sense of victimhood; I want the strength of those who, even in darkness, are able to glimpse a flash of light to emerge.
If you had one, what was your educational path in fashion?
I started in Milan with a one-year course in Fashion Styling & Communication. At a certain point, however, I realized it was no longer my path. I left my studies to dedicate myself entirely to my vision and to building the brand.
How would you define your aesthetic?
Sensitive and profound. For me, it is essential to convey depth through fashion. I don’t identify with the superficiality that often characterizes this industry today. I want a garment to say something, to carry emotional weight.
What details or elements of your collections best represent you and your story?
I like to use metallic elements. They represent a kind of reflection, as if you were looking at yourself through the garment.
What was the very first Stoll piece you created?
It was a dress with fully metallic straps. That was the very first true starting point.
What role do you hold within the company?
I am the Creative Director and the owner. Stoll is an extension of myself: I take care of its vision and build its identity.
Your first runway show took place in February, right?
Exactly. As part of a launch strategy, we had removed images of the new collection from Instagram. Due to some internal company dynamics, we decided to relaunch the brand in conjunction with the runway show. It was a true rebranding process: we archived the previous vision and presented the collection under a new light.
How did it go?
Very well! The location didn’t fully reflect my vision, but seeing my garments and Stoll’s identity take shape for the first time was incredibly emotional. With Fashion Week, I fully exposed myself: through the collection and social media, I publicly declared that I had created my own brand.
How many people are currently working in the company? Who else is part of the team and what do they do?
I am the Creative Director and owner. Then there’s Daphne, who handles social media. We also collaborate with external professionals, such as the pattern maker and the factory.
What are the next steps for Stoll?
We are working on the new collection and aiming for the upcoming fashion weeks. We also want to organize events to introduce Stoll’s identity, especially outside of Italy.
Why outside Italy?
Because I believe my brand and its identity would be more appreciated in an international market than in the Italian one. I don’t want to create a brand where you simply buy a garment and that’s it. I want you to know it and identify with what I want to express. My goal is not just to create a brand, but a true identity building an entire Stoll world, with hotels and restaurants.
Do you think there is space in Italy for emerging brands?
Unfortunately, we are talking about an industry, so yes, there is space, but there is also a lot of competition with little diversification. At times, it feels like identity is missing.
Is there something you wish someone had told you when you first launched the brand, or something you would like to hear now?
At the beginning, I wish someone had told me to believe in the project and not be afraid to show myself. I am very reserved, and overcoming that limit was one of the hardest steps. But it was worth it.

Sensibile e profonda.
Che ruolo ricopri all’interno dell’azienda?
Adesso nell’azienda quanti siete?
Come mai?
